BMAC club ride to Foothills ATV Trails

What a beautiful day for the first club ride of the season!

BMAC Weekend Ride & Activities. Plus repaired Trail!

Sat. April 28 is the BMAC club ride to Foothills ATV Riders club picnic. Anyone wishing to go must notify us so we can supply a waiver for you to sign, that the Foothills club requires. If you aren't a member of Foothills there is a $10 fee to ride plus a copy of reg. & insurance. We will be meeting at BMAC President Rusty Heath's house and access the Foothills trail directly from there. So you will need directions to Rusty's house. The Foothills Club will be supplying burgers/hot dogs, soda and water and ask that you bring a dish to share. Sunday April 29, we would like to get the canopy up at the trailhead and get the tape off the closed trail, plus do a last minute check before the trails open in one week on May 1st. Also, there is a small tree down on the trail into Farrell's Lookout. So anyone willing to help be at the trailhead around noon. The bad section on Ira Clark Hill old 4 has been repaired just in time for MAY 1 st opening! Before and after pictures.

BMAC Kiosk

At the left of the kiosk at the BMAC trailhead there is a mailbox. In the mailbox is a notebook and we'd like to ask riders to sign in and out with their name and times. We like to know the visitors to the trails, but the main purpose is safety. The neighbors keep an eye on the trailhead and if vehicles are still in the parking area after dark, calls would be made to officers with a concern that someone needs help on the trails. We will also be adding maps, etc. to the mailbox once we open the trails on May 1st. Reminder, for May the trail hrs. are 12 noon to 9 pm.

BMAC members Patti & Garrett Anderson have offered to refurbish and update the kiosk this year, and what a wonderful job they are doing. This is a work in progress and not completed yet, but wanted to share their progress.

Extremely important survey to benefit landowners

The Vermont Trails & Greenways Council has developed a survey regarding Landowner Incentives. The results will be shared with the Agency of Natural Resources and can help shape the trails report that will be submitted this fall. We absolutely need as many motorized users as possible to take this survey- we need the voice of motorized recreation to be heard. Please take a few minutes and take this survey and forward it on to anyone you can. Thank you so much!

And please be extremely careful. Many areas are under a critical Red Flag for fire warning. It is extremely dry all over.

May Trail Hours

Just a heads up. When we do open BMAC trails in May, in preference to our Landowners, they will be open at 12 noon to 9pm because of VTs. turkey hunting season. Signs will be posted.

Meeting updates and trail work

Because of Easter Sunday falling on our regular meeting day, it was voted on by the members at the last meeting to change the date to;

Please bring a chair to sit on and a nonperishable item for donation to the West Rutland Food Shelf.

And the May meeting falls on Mothers day so our club meeting has been moved to Sunday May 6th at 4:00 in the afternoon at the BMAC Trailhead. I will send reminders a week ahead.

We also have a tentative trail work date for April 21, rain day April 22 to open the trails for May 1st.
